Weymouth and Bournemouth Beaches Triumph in Europe's Top 25 Beaches List

Hold onto your Blue Vinny, folks, because Dorset has done it again! Two of our very own beaches have been named among the best in Europe in the prestigious Travelers' Choice Awards 2023 by travel website Tripadvisor. That's right, Weymouth beach and Bournemouth beach have made the cut, beating out competitors from across the continent to secure their spots in Europe's top 25 beaches.
Weymouth beach, located in the heart of the Jurassic Coast, came in at an impressive 14th place. And who can blame the judges? This family-friendly beach with its shallow waters is perfect for a refreshing swim when the British sun makes an appearance, or even all year round for the brave souls out there.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth beach, a re-entry for this year, secured the 24th spot with its seven-mile-long stretch of pristine sand. It's good to have you back, Bournemouth!
Now, you might be wondering who took the top spot in Europe. Was it the sun-kissed beaches of Spain, Portugal, or Greece? Nope. It was none other than the rugged and mystical Reynisfjara Beach in Vik, Iceland. With its famous black sands and imposing rock formations, it's easy to see why it stole the crown.
But don't be disheartened, Brits. Our very own Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, still managed to claim the 12th spot, beating out some tough competition from the rest of Europe.
So, let's raise a cup of tea (or maybe a pint) to our two fantastic Dorset beaches and to the rest of the UK's contenders in this year's Travelers' Choice Awards. Britain may be small, but we sure do have some world-class beaches!
