Munt's Morsels: The Royal Oak, Dorchester.

Our new restaurant critic Giles Munt dines at the local Wetherspoons.

I recently dined at the Royal Oak in Dorchester and I must say, I was thoroughly disappointed. I expected so much more from a Wetherspoons, but it simply did not deliver.

Firstly, the décor was dreary and uninviting. It was as if the interior designer had no sense of style or flair. The furnishings were shoddy and the lighting was far too dim for my liking.

As for the food, it was quite simply a disaster. The menu was uninspired, offering a range of bland and unappetizing dishes. The overcooked steak I ordered was so tough I could barely cut it with a knife, and the chips were cold and soggy. The service was equally lacklustre, with staff who were uninterested in their customers.

In short, the Royal Oak is an establishment that fails to meet even the most basic standards of dining. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. One star, if I'm feeling generous.
